EC starts dialogue with political parties from Sunday

The Election Commission will start dialogue with registered political parties from Sunday (Jul 17) as it has already invited a total of 39 political parties to discuss issues relating to the 12th Jatiyo Sangsad elections.

As part of the schedule, the EC will hold dialogue with BNP from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jul 20. 

The ruling Awami League will take part in dialogue from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Jul 31. 

The EC will sit with Jatiyo Party from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jul 31. 

Earlier on Jul 6, EC secretariat additional secretary Ashok Kumar Devnath told journalists that there will be no specific agenda in the dialogue.

“Agenda for dialogue is open. Each election commission holds dialogues with the political parties before the national parliament elections and this commission is also continuing that trend,” he told journalists.

The EC has already started sending invitation letter to parties concerned and 10 representatives from each party will be allowed to join the dialogue to be held at its secretariat.

On the first day (Sunday), the EC will sit with Jatiyatabadi Ganitantrik Andolan from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Bangladesh Congress from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and Bangladesh Muslim League (BML) from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 18, dialogue will be held with Bangladesh Islami Front from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Bangladesh Sangskritik Mukti Jote from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Khelafat Majlish from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 19, the EC will hold dialogue with Bangladesh Kalayan Party from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Islami Oikya Jote from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and Bangladesh Samiyabadi Dal – ML from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 20, dialogue will take place with Ganotantri Party from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and National Awami party from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

On Jul 21, the EC will sit with Bangladesh Tarikat Federation from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Bangladesh Jatiyo Party from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal (Jasad) from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and Gonofront from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 24, dialogue will be held with Bangladesh Khelafat Andolan from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Jatiyo Party – JP from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Jatiyo Samajtantrik Dal – JSD from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and Islamic Front from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 25, Bangladesh Muslim League will take part in dialogue from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Workers Party of Bangladesh from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal – BSD from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m., Liberal Democratic Party – LDP from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 26, the EC will sit with Jamiyate Olamaye Islam Bangladesh from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Bikalpadhara Bangladesh from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Islami Andolan Bangladesh from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and National People’s Party – NPP from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On Jul 27, dialogue will take place with Bangladesh Jatiyo Party – BJP from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Jaker Party from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and Krishak Sramik Janata League from 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.

On Jul 28, the EC will hold talks with Gonoforum from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., Bangladesh National Awami Party – Bangladesh NAP from 12 noon to 1 p.m. and Communist Party of Bangladesh from 2.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.
