'Padmaavat' to release on Jan 25

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film "Padmavati", which was retitled "Padmavat" and again "Padmaavat", will be released on Jan 25, makers of the film announced.

The makers of controversy-ridden period epic Padmaavat (previously Padmavati) on Sunday (Jan 14) officially announced the film's release date. The film will hit screens on Jan 25.

Padmaavat has had a difficult journey right from the beginning, during production to its release. Previously, the makers had postponed the film indefinitely from its original release date of Dec 1 due to widespread protests by right-wing organisations.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone had received threats, according to media reports.

Announcing the new release date, all the three actors, Deepika, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh took to their Twitter handles and shared an updated poster of Padmaavat.

The makers of the film said that "Padmaavat" is the first Indian film that will have a global IMAX 3D release. However, the film will not be screened in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
