Former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Sunday (Jan 14) in a five-day tour to Bangladesh. Pranab is expected to land at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon. Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will welcome him in the airport, local media reports said on Saturday.
It will be the first private visit of Pranab Mukherjee to Bangladesh. During the visit, he will have some engagements in Dhaka and Chittagong. He is scheduled to attend the concluding ceremony of a literary conference at Bangla Academy in Dhaka on Jan 15.
Pranab would also meet President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He would visit Chittagong on Jan 16 and join the CU convocation. The university would confer an honorary doctorate degree to the former Indian president. Pranab, who served as the 13th president of India, would also visit the home of Martyr Masterda Surya Sen at Noapara village under Raozan upazila in Chittagong.
He is scheduled to fly back to India on Jan 18.
