Bangladesh Election Commission is set to hold the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-polls on Feb 26. Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda announced the polls schedule at EC Media Centre on Tuesday (Jan 9) in presence of commissioners, secretaries and acting secretaries, local media reports said.
According to the schedule, the last date for submitting nomination papers is Jan 18. Besides, the last date for withdrawing nomination paper is January 29. The nomination papers will be scrutinized between Jan 21 and Jan 22.
Simultaneously, the commission has also announced the schedule to hold polls in the newly-formed 18 wards of DNCC and DSCC on the same day.
The DNCC mayoral post fell vacant with the death of Annisul Huq on Nov 30 last.
