The 'National Dairy Development Forum' is formally launched through formation of 13 members executive committee. Advocate Umme Kulsum Srity, honourable Member of Parliament, has been nominated as president while Mohammad Anisur Rahman, Director of BRAC Dairy and Food as General Secretary, said a press release on Wednesday (Jan 3).
The executive committee has been formed in a meeting held in Oxfam in Bangladesh Office, Dhaka recently. Following formation of the executive committee an ‘Advisory Committee’ also formed in the meeting.
Other members of Executive Committee are Vice-President-Uzma Chowdhury, Director (Corporate Finance) of PRAN-RFL Group, Dr. Quazi M Emdadul Huque, Former Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute and ED LalTeer Livestock Limited, Joint Secretary-Dr. KBM Saiful Islam, Chairman and Associate Professor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Treasurer- Sheikh Ali Ahmed, Research Consultant of Human Development Research Centre and Organizing Secretary- Dr. Khalid Hossain, Program Manager of Oxfam in Bangladesh. The Executive Members are Anowarul Haq, Director of CARE Bangladesh, Jahid Hossain, Senior Dairy Consultant, Mostafizur Rahman, Deputy General Manager, Milk Vita, Dr. Golam Rabbani, Assistant Project Director, CCAC project, Department of Livestock Services, Dr. Rakibur Rahman, Chief-Dairy (Extn), PRAN Dairy Ltd and Mushfiqur Rahman Dipu, Dairy Entrepreneur, SR Dairy.
The advisory committee consists of Prof. Dr. Abul Barkat, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Mostafizur Rahman, General Manager, Banglaesh Bank Traning Academy, Dr. Md. Liakat Hossain Moral, General Manager, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Abu Naser, Director, FBCCI, Azad Chowdhury, Director, Bangladesh SME Corporation Ltd. And Dr. Nathuram Sarker, Principal Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute.
National Dairy Development Forum was formed on May 2016 through an initiative of Oxfam in Bangladesh that was patronized by DFID. The forum works as an advocacy platform with a view to mitigate the challenges and gaps embedded with the dairy sector in Bangladesh, the release added.
