Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan becomes NBR chief

The government has appointed former Senior Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan as the chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) and Senior Secretary of the Internal Resources Division for the next two years on a contractual basis.

Mosharraf replaced Md. Nojibur Rahman who was made Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister. The Public Administration Ministry issued a notification on Wednesday (Jan 3) in this regard. As per the notification, the appointment will come into effect from the date of his joining the post, local media reports said.

An officer of BCS 1981, Hossain was appointed as acting secretary of Bridge Division in February, 2010 and was made secretary in July, 2010. He was made secretary of the Ministry of Industries in October, 2014 and he was promoted to senior secretary in April, 2016.

He also served as executive chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority and member of Bangladesh Privatization Commission.

Mosharraf did his Honours and Master's in Economics from Dhaka University.
