Reshuffle in Cabinet likely

The government is set to bring some changes to the Cabinet in an effort to speed up administrative activities. Three lawmakers and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) President Mustafa Jabbar have received calls from the Bangabhaban to take oath as ministers, local media reports said on Monday (Jan 1) citing sources at the Prime Minister's Office.

Member of Parliament from Lakhsmipur 3 constituency AKM Shahjahan Kamal, Rajbari 1 lawmaker Kazi Keramat Ali and State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayon Chandra Chanda will take oath on Tuesday (Jan 2).

Besides, ICT personality Mustafa Jabbar will be sworn in as a technocrat minister. Taran Halim and Zunaid Ahmed Palak are now serving as the State Ministers for the department of Post and Telecommunication and Information and Communication Technology respectively.

The post of Minister for Fisheries and Livestock has been vacant since the death of Muhammed Sayedul Hoque in mid-December. State minister for fisheries and livestock, Narayan Chandra Chanda, is likely to be promoted to full minister.

This is for the fourth time that PM Sheikh Hasina is going for a cabinet reshuffle.

President Md. Abdul Hamid is likely to administer oath to the new ministers at Bangabhaban's Darbar Hall in the evening, sources in the president's office said. The PM and other cabinet members are expected to attend the ceremony.
