BNP seeks permission to hold rally in Dhaka

BNP seeks permission to hold rally in Dhaka

Bangladesh Nationalist Party has decided to hold a rally in Dhaka on Jan 5 to observe the day as "Democracy Killing Day" registering the party's protest against 10th parliamentary elections held on that day in 2014. The party has already sought permission for the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan, said party senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

He came up with the disclosure at a discussion in the city arranged by Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) marking its founding anniversary, local media reports said on Sunday (Dec 31).

The BNP leader called upon the leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies to work together to make the rally a success.

BNP insiders said the party is preparing to stage a big showdown on Jan 5 through the rally and thus 'rejuvenate' its rank.
