Children's film festival at Shilpakala Academy

'Bangladesh Children's Film Festival 2017' will begin on Thursday (Dec 28) in the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. The academy will organise the festival to develop and encourage the local films. The festival will run simultaneously at all 64 districts in the country till Dec 31.

Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony at National Art Gallery auditorium while Shilpakala Academy director of theater and film Badrul Anam Bhuiyan will deliver the welcome speech.

Artist Mustafa Manowar, film organizer Munira Morshed Munni, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism Department of University of Dhaka Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury will be present while Shilpakala Academy Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky will preside over the ceremony.

A total of 40 films, including both children's film and films made by children, will be screened at the festival, a press release from the organising institution confirmed on Tuesday. Earlier, a seven-member jury committee selected the films for the festival to screen. A jury committee headed by Syed Saluddin Zaki was formed to nominate the films for the award.

A workshop titled 'Understanding Films' will be held on Dec 29 and 30, while a seminar is scheduled to be held on Dec 29 at the National Art Gallery auditorium.

Certificates will be distributed among the participants on the closing day of the festival.
