Mahtabuddin Chowdhury, first Vice President of the Chittagong City Awami League, has been nominated as the Acting President of the organization after the death of its President ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. The decision was taken in the Presidium meeting of Bangladesh Awami League held on on Saturday (Dec 23) in Dhaka with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, local media reports said.
Mahtabuddin Chowdhury, elder son of late leader Jahur Ahmed Chowdhury, has been asked to discharge his responsibility as the Acting President till the annual conference of the Chittagong City Awami League.
The post of President of Chittagong City Awami League has fallen vacant after the death of ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury. Chittagong city unit Awami League president and former Chittagong City Corporation mayor Mohiuddin died on Dec 15 in a private hospital in the city.
