Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Novoair, a private airline, will start direct flight from Dhaka to Guwahati, the capital of Indian Assam state that shares northeastern border with Bangladesh, soon.
The decision was made on Wednesday (Dec 20) when a delegation of Assam state led by its Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a meeting with Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon at the secretariat in Dhaka, news agency reported.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to sign a MoU for flourishing tourism in the region by exploiting natural beauty of hilly range of Assam state and rivers and sandy beaches of Bangladesh.
On behalf of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the Assam Finance Minister handed over an invitation to Menon to join Global Investment Summit to be held in Assam on Feb 3-4.
Assam's public works minister Parimal Suklabadiya was also present as part of the delegation.
