WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow you to reply to group chat messages secretly. The new option, rolling out soon according to online media, will give users the ability to start up a chat with someone in the group one-on-one.
That will be especially handy to put a stop to the dreaded group message spam, or when you have something to add to a conversation that you’d rather not share with the wider group.
Once available, it will appear as a shortcut when you press and hold a message. It earlier gives you the option to message a person directly, but ‘Reply Privately’ will quote the message you’re responding to, to give your message some context.
This joins another new feature thought to be coming in the next Whatsapp update, which is the picture-in-picture video option. This sees a new icon appearing when you’re watching a video in WhatsApp that will allow you to shrink it into a isolated, moveable window.
