The Cabinet on Monday (Nov 27) approved a proposal to observe Dec 12 as the National ICT Day to recognise the country’s advancement in information and communication technology and achieve Digital Bangladesh goal.
Cabinet secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam disclosed this at a press briefing at the secretariat in the afternoon, local media reports said.
The day has been chosen to be observed as the National ICT Day as on that day in 2008 Bangladesh Awami League introduced the concept of 'Digital Bangladesh' in its election manifesto, he said.
The meeting was held at Prime Minister's Office in the morning.
