The nation celebrated the UNESCO recognition of the founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic March 7th speech as a world documentary heritage.
Many joyous processions organized by people of all classes and professions as well as government and private organisations were brought out across the country on Saturday (Nov 25).
Thousands of people in Dhaka also took part in the processions that headed towards Suhrawardy Udyan on Soaturday noon where a grand rally is being held to celebrate this great achievement.
A grand procession, led by Bangladesh Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, was brought out from Bangabandhu's residence at Dhanmondi Road 32 in Dhaka.
The procession marched towards Suhrawardy Udyan where the great leader delivered the landmark speech on March 7 in 1971.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina addressed a grand rally as the chief guest at Suhrawardy Udyan in the afternoon.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation on Oct 30 recognised the historic March 7 speech as part of world's documentary heritage.
