Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) is set to administer the smart national card at district level from the first week of the next month. The administer of smart cards will start in 31 districts in the first phase, Director General of NID Registration Wing of EC Mohammad Saidul Islam said on Monday (Nov 21).
The cards will be distributed at Dhaka Circle Union, Narayanganj Bandar, Paba of Rajshahi, Anwara of Chittagong, Panchagar Sadar, Joypurhat Sadar, Bogra Sadar, Kurigram Sadar, Gaibandha Sadar, Lalmonirhat Sadar, Dinajpur Sadar, Thakurgaon Sadar, Nilphamari Sadar, Tungipara in Goplaganj, Rangamati Sadar, Bandarban Sadar, Khaghrachari Sadar, Pirojpur Sadar, Sharitpur Sadar, Jhalakathi Sadar, Sunamganj Sadar, Meherpur Sadar, Netrakona Sadar, Noakhali Sadar, Pabna Sadar and Patuakhali Sadar, according to sources.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Oct last year inaugurated the NID distribution program in Dhaka. It is expected that the voters will get their smart cards gradually.
