Dhaka Dynamites explore Lalbagh Fort

Lalbagh Fort, one of the most popular historic sites of Dhaka came alive with modern day star cricketers as Dhaka Dynamites players played a festival cricket match with one of their sponsors Omera LPG on Thursday (Nov 16).

The star players of Dynamites, Shakib Al Hasan, Kumar Sangakarra, Shahid Afridi, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and others were present on the occasion. Thousands of Dynamites fans enjoyed the privilege of witnessing their favourite stars live and close.

The match was played at the free space situated in the 16th century brick-built Mughal fort, established to protect Dhaka Dynamites from the invasion of Portuguese and Arakanese pirates. Though heavily guarded by the police and other security forces the atmosphere was full of enjoyment and delight.

Dhaka Dynamites players distributed their team shirts, cricket balls and caps among the fans and it was a memorable moment for many people. Rahatul Islam Joy, a student of East West University will cherish the moment of taking a snap of Shakib and Afridi and also shaking hands with them. “I will remember the moment, both of them are my favourite cricketers and talking with them is one of the happiest moment of my life” said Joy. Tahsin, a kid of Lalbagh area was delighted with the glimpse of Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib.

“I admire him very much and want to be an all-rounder like him, I am very happy today,”’ said the class five student of Nabakumar Institution. Shahid Afridi, talking with the media on the occasion said Bangladesh and its cricket has a special place in his heart. “I have been coming to Bangladesh since 1996 and it’s like my second home, the atmosphere, the love of people and the passion towards cricket is unique. Dhaka Dynamites is also a great team and I hope to retain the BPL title with our best efforts,” said the Pakistani all rounder.
