DITF pulls big crowd on weekend

Only three days since its delayed opening, Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019 pulled big crowd on its first weekend on Friday (Jan 11). The fair organised by the commerce ministry and Export Promotion Bureau, started at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, Wednesday in a bid to boost exports.

Though many stalls were not ready, many customers were seen gathering there with family and friends to check out this year’s event.

The commerce ministry and Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau allocated about 50 stalls to foreign companies and the rest to local companies.

The fair will be open to visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day for one month. The entry fee for adults is Tk 30 and Tk 20 for minors.

According to a report, last year Bangladesh received export orders worth Tk 243 crore from the trade fair which was up from Tk 235 crore a year ago. The management hopes to exceed last year’s number in this year.
