Most of the lawmakers-elect of the Jatiyo Party on Wednesday (Jan 2) said the party should join the Bangladesh Awami League-led new government. The opinion came at a joint meeting of JP presidium members, and MPs-elect at the party chief's Banani office, JP Co-chairman GM Quader told newsmen after the meeting, local media reports said.
The party's parliamentary body will decide its role in the 11th parliament.
Meanwhile, the oath-taking ceremony of MPs-elect was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban today.
The ruling Awami League and its close allies with the boat symbol have clinch the results of the 11th National Election held on Sunday (Dec 30).
