Awami League’s win is another victory in December: PM

Prime Minister and Bangladesh Awami League President Sheikh Hasina today termed the win of the Awami League-led Grand Alliance in the parliamentary election as another victory of the countrymen in December, the month of victory.

“The win of the Awami League-led grand alliance in yesterday’s national election is another victory of the countrymen in December,” she said.

The PM came up with the remarks when political leaders and senior officials of civil and military administration greeted her at her official Ganabhaban residence in the capital on the occasion of Awami League-led Grand Alliance’s landslide victory in yesterday’s parliamentary polls, local media reports said.

Sheikh Hasina said the victory is nothing to her for personal gains, rather it is a great responsibility towards the country and its people.

“I think our reelection is a great opportunity to serve the people and materialise the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman through completing his unfinished tasks,” she said.

The premier also extended her greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the New Year 2019. The leaders and officials greeted the premier by presenting bouquets to her.

They included Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Prime Minister’s Advisors Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury and Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Cabinet Secretary, Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary, the chiefs of the three services, IGP, Public Administration Secretary, PM’s Press Secretary and the director generals of BGB and RAB.

Bangabandhu’s younger daughter Sheikh Sheikh Rehana and Prime Minister’s daughter Saima Wazed Putul were present on the occasion.
