20-party alliance to join polls

Bangladesh Nationalist Party-led 20-party alliance has announced that it will take part in the 11th parliamentary election. The alliance’s coordinator also Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col (retd) Oli Ahmed made the announcement at a press briefing at BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s political office in Gulshan Sunday (Nov 11), local media reports said.

While reading out a written speech, the 20-party leaders demanded deferment of the national election’s schedule by one month.

Top leaders of the alliance including BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan attended the media brief.

Meanwhile, BNP is set to start selling the party’s nomination papers for the 11th parliamentary election from Monday (Nov 12). Aspirants can buy nomination papers from BNP’s central party office in city’s Nayapaltan area.

Earlier in the day, Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiyo Oikyafront declared to contest the upcoming 11th Jatiya Sangsad elections under ruling Bangladesh Awami League administration.

Jatiyo Oikyofront includes Dr Kamal Hossain-led Jatiya Oikyo Prokriya, ASM Abdur Rab's Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, Mahmudur Rahman Manna's Nagorik Oikya, Bangabir Kader Siddique-led Krishak Sramik Janata League, and BNP.
