Bangladesh clinch SAFF U18 Women’s Championship title

The Bangladesh U-18 national women’s football team made the nation proud as they won coveted title of maiden SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship beating Nepal by 1-0 in the final on Sunday (Oct 7) at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan, local media reports said.

After the goalless first half, Musura Parvin broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal in the 49th minute, and Bangladesh maintained their lead till the final whistle of the match.

Conceding the goal, Nepal, tried to stage a fight back in the remaining proceeding, but failed to restore the parity.

Earlier, at the same venue, India secured third position beating hosts Bhutan 1-0.

Bangladesh crushed Pakistan by 17-0 in their group opening match, and beat Nepal 2-1 in their second match to top group B.

The girls in red and green got the ticket of final beating host Bhutan by 4-0 in the second semifinal.

On the other hand, Nepal dumped Pakistan 12-0 in their group B opening match, and lost to Bangladesh 1-2 in their second match to finish group B runners-up.

Nepal beat India by 3-1 in penalty shootout in a hard-fought first semi-final.
