51st DU convocation held

The Dhaka University (DU) staged its 51st convocation on Saturday (Oct 6). President Md. Abdul Hamid, also the Chancellor of the university, presided over the event at the central playground on the campus in the capital, while National Professor Anisuzzaman addressed as the convocation speaker.

The convocation began at 11:30 a.m. A total of 21,111 graduates took part in the convocation. Of them, 72 received gold medals from the Chancellor.

A total of 81 researchers are conferred with Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degrees while 27 are given Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) degrees in the convocation.

Registered graduates of the seven affiliated colleges of Dhaka University also participated in the convocation for the first time, local media reports said. 

The convocation programme was screened on Dhaka College and Eden College campuses simultaneously through video conference.
