BNP candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury has finally been elected Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, after reelection in two suspended centres of the city held on Saturday (Aug 12).
Bangladesh Nationalist Party - BNP backed candidate Ariful Huq Chowdhury elected as the mayor of Sylhet City Corporation election again as fresh voting held in two previously suspended poll centers on Saturday (Aug 11). Ariful wins the mayoral race by beating his closest Bangladesh Awami League contender Badaruddin Ahmed, local media reports said.
Earlier on Saturday morning, voting started in the two polling centers that were suspended on Jul 31 Election Day due to ''irregularities''.
After the counting the votes of the two centers, Ariful was unofficially reelected as the mayor of Sylhet.
