Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed from Uttara area in the capital on Saturday (Aug 4) over spreading rumours on Facebook. A team of elite force detained Nawshaba and took her to RAB-1 office for interrogation, local media reports said.
It was learnt that, Nawshaba went to Facebook live in the afternoon and said that the attackers killed two students and gouged out the eyes of another at Jigatala. The actress also requested people to get united, take to the streets to ‘‘protect’’ the students as they were ‘‘attacked’’ by some activists.
The students who were managing the traffic at Jigatola and Dhanmondi in the city, came under attack on Saturday afternoon.
Finally, members of Border Guard Bangladesh came out of the Pilkhana headquarters and brought the situation under control.
