Bangladesh Awami League-backed mayoral candidate A H M Khairuzzaman Liton was unofficially declared elected in the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) election on Monday (Jul 30), according to unofficial reports announced by the election officials.
Liton defeated his main rival Bangladesh Nationalist Party-backed Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, local media reports said.
The voting in RCC began at 8:00 a.m. and continued till 4:00 p.m. across the municipality on Monday.
