Dance-drama festival starts Nov 1

A four-day 'Srishti-Meena Bazaar Dance Drama Festival 2017' is all set to be held this November. Starting from Nov 1, the festival will take place at Banglaesh Shilpakala Academy and will conclude on Nov 4.

In a press conference, the festival authority informed that the programme will commence with Rabindranath Tagore's 'Tasher Desh' at Jatiyo Natyashala Milonayatan of Shilpakala Academy.

Based on the immortal tale of Radha-Krishna's timeless romance, 'Rai Krishna Padabali', penned by Sheikh Hafizur Rahman, will be staged on Nov 2. 'Bandi-Bandar Rupkotha', adapted from the story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, is slated to be staged on Nov 3.

The festival will conclude with the performance of 'Sonai Madhav', based on the Mymensingh Geetika, at the Experimental Theatre Hall. All the shows will be staged at 7 p.m.

A number of renowned dancers and actors will don roles in the dance dramas, including Shibly Mohammad, Shamim Ara Nipa, Anisul Islam Hiru, Sukolyan Bhattacharjee, Doly Iqbal, Sabrina Nisa, Liaquat Ali Lucky, Rokhsana Akter Rupa, Zahidul Kabir Liton, Warda Rihab and Sabbir Ahmed Khan.

The title sponsor of the festival is Meena Bazaar. Kazi and Kazi Tea, Meena Sweets, ULAB and Organicare are co-sponsoring the event, while Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is working as a partner.
