163 students get Prime Minister Gold Medal award

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina handed over the Gold Medal 2017 award to the talented students of different public and private universities of the country as the chief guest.

The Prime Minister Gold Medal 2017 award ceremony under the auspices of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh (UGC) was held on Wednesday (Jul 25) at the Shapla Hall of Prime Minister’s Office, local media reports said.

UGC chairman Prof Abdul Mannan presided over the function while Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division of the ministry Sohorab Hossain were present as special guests on the occasion.

This year, a total of 163 students were awarded the Prime Minister Gold Medal in recognition of their securing the highest marks or CGPA in their respective faculties.

The Prime Minister Gold Medal was introduced in 2005 as an effort to encourage the talented students of the universities of the country.
