After being accorded a reception by Bangladesh Awami League, the party President and also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina dedicated the honour to the people of the country. The PM said this while addressing the Awami League reception program, organised to commemorate her glorious achievements, at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on Saturday (Jul 21), local mdia reports said.
Sheikh Hasina said, “This Monihar (Necklace symbolizing victory and success) is not mine but for people. I don’t need a reception. I came to work for people and doing just that.”
Mentioning that she has no other objectives other than ensuring food, accommodation, clothes and better life for people, the premier said, “I am just a mere servant and my only concern is whether people are being deprived or not. I have no other desire.”
Hasina also said, “Building a prosperous Bangladesh is my only aim as it was the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
She also slammed those who oppose ‘Boat’ (Bangladesh Awami League party symbol) asking them whether they want to bring the BNP-Jamaat alliance back to power.
The ruling Awami League has honored its President Sheikh Hasina for her contributions to the successful launch of the Bangabandhu Satellite-1, country’s graduation from ‘least developed’ to ‘developing’ status, attainment of the Global Women's
Leadership Award in Australia, and Doctor of Literature (D-Litt) degree from Kazi Nazrul University of India.
Thousands of leaders, activists and supporters of ruling Awami League gathered at Suhrawardy Udyan to accord this reception program to PM Sheikh Hasina amid festivities.
Tight security measures were taken to ensure security for the program.
The main part of the function commenced with recitation from the holy books — the holy Quran, Geeta, Bible and Tripitak.
Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmood and Deputy Secretary Aminul Islam Amin conducted the main part of the reception, while party’s Cultural Affairs Secretary Ashim Kumar Ukil conducted the cultural function.
