Bangladesh Awami League has finished preparations for a reception of its chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Suhrwardy Udyan on Saturday (Jul 21), according to Obaidul Quader. The ruling party’s general secretary spoke to reporters during a visit to the venue on Friday (Jul 20), local media reports said.
There will also be a cultural function. Hasina’s son and ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy will attend the programme.
In her speech, Hasina will also send a message about the next general election, the Awami League general secretary said. The two-hour programme will begin at 3 p.m.
The Awami League is giving Hasina the reception for her role in Bangladesh’s socio-economic development, including recent achievements like the successful launch of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 and the eligibility to gradate to a developing nation from a least developed country, and her recent achievements – Global Women’s Leadership Award and D-Lit from Kazi Nazrul University of India.
