Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed, Quarter Master General of Bangladesh Army, has been appointed as new chief of the force for the next three years, local media reports said.
“Bangladesh Army’s BA-2424 Lieutenant General Aziz Ahmed, BGBM, PBGM, BGBMS, PSC, G, Quarter Master General has been appointed as new chief of Bangladesh Army from June 25 afternoon,” a defence ministry gazette notification said on Monday (Jun 18).
He will also be promoted to the rank of General on that day, the gazette, signed by joint secretary Md Abu Bakar Siddique, added.
Ahmed also served as the Director General of BGB from Dec 5, 2012 to Nov 16, 2016.
Meanwhile, another defence ministry gazette notification said the present Army Chief General Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq, SBP, NDC, PSC, would go into leave preparatory to retirement (LPR) on Jun 25 afternoon after completing his term. He would go into retirement after completing his LPR.
