Denmark spoiled Peru’s first World Cup game since 1982 with a 1-0 victory in Saransk on Saturday (Jun 16).
Youssuf Poulsen scored the winner for the Danish team but Peru will be gutted after the loss. Playing their first World Cup game after 1982, they came up with a spirited display of attacking football and were denied by some last-gasp defending by Denmark and Kasper Schmeichel.
Peru created the better chances throughout the 90 minutes and missed a penalty through Christian Cueva.
Denmark join France on three points in Group C after Les Bleus registered a 2-1 triumph over Australia earlier on Saturday.
