A Dhaka court has granted bail to singer Asif Akbar in a case filed under ICT Act. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Keshab Roy Chowdhury passed the order with an undertaking of Tk 10,000 on Monday (Jun 11), local media reports said.
Asif’s lawyer Advocate Kazi Nazibullah Hiru filed the petition with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday (Jun 10).
Earlier, the same court rejected Asif’s pleas for bail and remand both and sent him to jail on Jun 6.
On Jun 5, a team of CID arrested Asif from his studio in Tejgaon FDC area.
On Jun 4, Lyricist-composer-singer Shafiq Tuhin filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station for piracy of songs, instigating death threat and humiliation.
Asif was accused in the case along with about four to five others.
