French Open 2018
Venue: Roland Garros, Paris
Dates: May 27-Jun 10
Simona Halep will have another shot at claiming that elusive Grand Slam title when she takes on Sloane Stephens in the women’s French Open final on Saturday, while Rafael Nadal will face Juan Martin del Potro for a place in the men’s final.
World number one Simona Halep has another chance to finally land her first Grand Slam title after beating Garbine Muguruza in the French Open semi-finals. The Romanian, 26, won 6-1 6-4 against the Spanish third seed.
She will now face Sloane Stephens in Saturday's final after the U.S. Open champion beat Madison Keys 6-4 6-4.
Halep has lost three previous Grand Slam finals, including two at Roland Garros in 2014 and 2017.
Nadal and Del Potro have clashed in the French Open before, although that was 11 years ago and the Spaniard romped to a 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 triumph.
In total, they have played 14 times with Nadal taking nine wins and Del Potro five, a record that reflects well on the 6ft 6in Argentine.
He has also won two of their last three encounters and was a set up in their most recent meeting in the 2017 US Open semi-final, although Nadal bounced back to win 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.
