Holy Lailatul Qadr holiday on Jun 13

Holy Lailatul Qadr holiday on Jun 13

The government has fixed the Lailatul Qadr holiday on Jun 13 instead of Jun 12. The public administration ministry issued an order re-fixing the date on Tuesday (Jun 5), local media reports said.

The authority earlier set Jun 12 as the Lailatul Qadr holiday, as there was a prediction that the holy month of Ramadan will begin on May 17. But the month in Arabic calendar started on May 18 as the Ramadan moon was not sighted in Bangladesh on May 16.

With the new schedule, the holy Lailatul Qadr will be observed on Jun 12. Muslims will pray overnight on Jun 12, and enjoy the next day as holiday.

Meanwhile, no change has been made to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays of Jun 15 to Jun 17 yet. However, the Eid holidays will be extended by a day if the holy month of Ramadan lasts 30-day.
