An awareness campaign on food hygiene was launched in Dhaka for ensuring healthy food to consumers during the month of holy Ramadan. Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), and community based tourism (CBT) Bangladesh jointly held the day-long awareness, and training programme at the Russian Cultural Centre in Dhanmondi with the slogan of 'Healthy Food in Hygienic Environment'.
As many as 50 local restaurant-workers and food vendors of Dhanmondi Rabindra Sorobor, Bangabandhu Museum and Sangsad Bhaban area participated in the training programme, local media reports said.
The awareness and training programme focused the issues of personal hygiene, preparation of food in hygienic environment, food sales technique, and good personal behavior.
The experts from tourism sector of Bangladesh provided hands-on training to the local restaurant workers and food vendors of the said areas.
Additional Secretary of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Saifullah Mokbul Murshed inaugurated the campaign in presence of BTB CEO Nikhil Ranjan Roy, Editor of Parjatan Bichitra, and sector specialist of CBT Bangladesh Mohiuddin Helal.
