Holy Lailatul Barat observed in Bangladesh

Holy Lailatul Barat observed in Bangladesh

The holy Lailatul Barat was observed in Bangladesh last night (Tuesday) with due religious fervour and devotion. On this night the Almighty Allah writes the destinies of all the creations for the coming year by considering their preceding deeds.

As always, the Muslim devotees spent the night at mosques and homes offering prayers, reciting from the holy Quran and seeking blessings to Allah for long life, peace, progress and happiness for themselves, their families, relatives and friends as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.

Besides offering prayers overnight, Muslims in Bangladesh cook and exchanged food, and distribute meals of bread and Halua among the poor.

Lailatul Barat is celebrated 15 days before the start of the Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims across the world.

The next day (May 2) is a public holiday.

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina greeted all Muslims of Bangladesh and elsewhere across the world on the occasion of the holy night, local media reports said.

Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and private television channels and radio stations broadcasted special programmes on the occasion.
