PM Sheikh Hasina returns home

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home this morning concluding her eight-day official visit to the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the premier and her entourage members landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10.45 a.m., local media reports said.

Sheikh Hasina paid a two-day visit to Saudi Arabia from Apr 15-16 at the invitation of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. She joined the concluding ceremony of a joint grand military exercise named "Gulf Shield-1".  

In the second phase of her visit, the PM went London on Apr 16 to join the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Summit.

On Apr 19, Sheikh Hasina attended the opening ceremony of CHOGM and official welcome hosted by British Premier Theresa May.

She also joined a dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth II in honour of Heads of Government and spouse/partners at the Buckingham Palace and receptions thrown by British premier Theresa May and Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland.

During the visit, Hasina attended the Commonwealth Women Forum as a presenter at the session on "Educate to empower: Making equitable and quality primary education and secondary education a reality for girls across the Commonwealth" at Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Westminster.

The Bangladesh PM joined a high-level programme organised by Overseas Development Institute (ODI), a prestigious think tank of the UK, as the keynote speaker on "Development Progress of Bangladesh: Policy, Progress and Prospect".

The premier also attended the Asia leaders' roundtable titled "Can Asia keep growing?" and a bilateral meeting with Indian PM Narendra Modi.

The UK chapter of Bangladesh Awami League accorded a reception to Sheikh Hasina in London for Bangladesh's eligibility as a developing country from a least developed one under her dynamic leadership.
