Khaleda denied bail in Cumilla arson attack case

A district court on Tuesday (Apr 10) rejected the bail petition of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in a case filed for instigating an arson attack on a bus on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in 2015. Senior Judicial Magistrate Mustain Billah of Judicial Magistrate Court-5 rejected the bail prayer after holding a hearing on the petition, local media reports said.

On Feb 3, 2015, an attack in Comilla's Chauddagram upazila left seven passengers dead and 20 others injured. Later, Nurujjaman, sub-inspector of Chauddagram police station lodged a case against 77 persons, where 6 BNP senior leaders, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, were shown instigators, giving orders of bombing.

Khaleda is now in Dhaka old central jail convicted in a graft case.
