National SME Fair begins Wednesday

National SME Fair 2018 will begin in Dhaka on Wednesday (Apr 4) with a view to promote small and medium enterprise products at local and international levels. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the five-day fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

SME Foundation and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) are jointly organising fair for the sixth time. A total of 274 SME entrepreneurs, including 183 women will exhibit their products, including jute, agriculture and leather goods, electrics and electrical items, light engineering products, handicrafts and plastic and synthetics items.

The SME Foundation will give the National SME Entrepreneurs Award 2018 at the fair. Each winner will be given Taka 100,000, a trophy and a certificate, according to reports.

There will be a sellers-buyers meeting booths, media centre and information stall besides the display of SME products and blood donation programme will also be arranged at the fair venue. It was learnt that, three seminars on the promotion of SME entrepreneurs and SME products will be organised during the fair.

The fair will remain open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. for visitors and there will be no entry fee.
