PayPal 'xoom' service launched in Bangladesh

PayPal, a global online payment system, has launched its service 'xoom' in Bangladesh for the convenience of the expatriate Bangladeshis including freelancers to send money here.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's IT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy inaugurated the service in a program titled 'PayPal+xoom Connectivity Launch in Bangladesh and Freelancers Conference' at Bangabandhu International Conference center on Thursday (Oct 19).

PayPal, which is available in more than 200 markets around the world, enables its account holders to receive money in more than 100 currencies, withdraw funds in 56 currencies and hold PayPal account balances in 25 currencies, according to media reports.

Customers can receive the service from the nine commercial banks, including Sonali Bank, Rupali Bank, Social Islami Bank and City Bank.
