Having failed to get permission to hold its yesterdays scheduled rally in the capital, Bangladesh National Party now announced to hold similar programme at Suhrawardy Udyan on Mar 19. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the announcement at the central party office in Nayapaltan on Monday (Mar 12), local media reports said.
We hope the government will assist us to hold the peaceful program, Fakhrul said. He also announced rally for Chittagong, Barisal and Rajshahi divisional cities on Mar 15, 24 and 31 respectively.
The party earlier called the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan of Dhaka on Monday, demanding unconditional release of their jailed party chief Begum Khaleda Zia. However, they wasn't given permission.
