Singer Saba Tani dies at 49

Saba Tani, popular Bangladeshi singer from 80s and 90s, was found dead at her own residence in Dhaka’s Uttara area on Monday (Feb 19). The body of Saba Tani, 49, was found inside the bathroom of her house, local media reports said quoting her family members. She had been suffering from low blood pressure for a long time. Saba left behind her son, mother, two sisters and two brothers.

Saba lived with her mother in the Uttara area. According to reports, her mother went to her sister’s house at Eskaton on Sunday and spent the night there. Saba, who was alone at home, could not be reached over phone by family members and others since Sunday night.

The singer was widely admired for her a few popular numbers like ‘Kichhukhon’, ‘Bhalobasa Bohurupi’ and ‘Kono Boishakhi Raate Jodi’, among others.

Although Saba became famous in the 80s and 90s, she went out of the spotlight gradually. After that, she was never regular on stage show. However, Saba had worked as a judge of a musical reality show in 2012.

The untimely death of Saba Tani shocked the county’s music arena as well as her fans and well-wishers.
