Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home on Saturday (Feb 17) from Italy after making a stopover in the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi. An Etihad Airways flight carrying the PM landed at Shahjalal International Airport in the evening, local media reports said.
Earlier, Hasina left Abu Dhabi where Bangladesh Ambassador to the UAE Mohammad Imran and senior officials saw her off at the airport. She arrived in the UAE on Thursday from Rome concluding her four-day official visit to Italy and Vatican City.
In Italy, she attended the annual governing council meeting of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) at the invitation of IFAD President Gilbert F Houngbo.
At the invitation of Pope Francis, Hasina also visited the Holy See (Vatican City) and held meetings with the Pope and Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.
During her visit, Bangladesh and the IFAD signed a loan agreement of 92.03 million US dollars for the uplift of the vulnerable rural people of six northeastern districts of the country.
